Passengers traveling with Air New Zealand can complete check-in through online services, airport self-service kiosks, or staffed airport counters. These methods enable travelers to obtain boarding passes and complete required pre-departure procedures before proceeding to security screening and boarding.

Online / Mobile Check-in

Air New Zealand offers online and mobile check-in before passengers leave for the airport. The airline also provides app-based access that allows passengers to manage bookings, check in remotely, and use digital boarding passes stored in the Air NZ app. Electronic boarding passes are accepted through the Air NZ app, while passengers not using the app must print a boarding pass or collect one from the airport check-in desk.

Self-Service Kiosks

Air New Zealand provides self-service kiosks for both domestic and international travel at selected airports. For international departures, passengers who checked in online can print bag tags at self-service kiosks and then proceed to bag drop or the oversize and fragile items desk. For domestic New Zealand flights, kiosks allow passengers to choose seats, print boarding passes, and print bag tags before taking luggage to bag drop. The airline lists multiple domestic airports where self-serve kiosks are available.

Airport Counter Check-in

Air New Zealand continues to provide staffed airport check-in desks for passengers who need in-person processing. Domestic travelers may use either self-serve kiosks or the check-in desk, while international travelers can use airport desks for baggage processing and document verification. Airport desk service also supports passengers who need printed boarding passes or who are unable to use app-based or kiosk-based check-in.

Special Assistance

Air New Zealand provides a dedicated special assistance request process for passengers with disabilities or other support needs. The airline instructs passengers to submit a special assistance request form for existing bookings, and for travel within the next 48 hours it directs passengers to contact its contact centre. For domestic New Zealand flights, passengers requiring special assistance must be checked in 60 minutes before departure so the requested service can be provided.
