» Lost and Found
Passengers who misplace personal belongings or experience baggage delivery
issues while traveling with American Airlines can report the incident through
airline or airport Lost and Found services.
Onboard Lost Items
Items left onboard an American Airlines aircraft are collected after passengers
disembark and transferred to the Lost and Found department at the arrival
airport. Passengers can submit a lost item report through the airline’s online
reporting system.
Items Lost at the Airport
Items lost in airport terminals, including airline lounges, check-in halls,
security checkpoints, boarding gates, and baggage claim areas, are handled by
the airport Lost and Found department.
Lost or Missing Checked Baggage
Passengers whose checked baggage does not arrive on their flight must report the
issue immediately at the Baggage Service Office located in the baggage claim
area. Airport staff create a Property Irregularity Report (PIR).
The report reference number allows baggage tracing through the international
WorldTracer. Baggage that remains unrecovered after 21 days is classified as
lost.
Reporting and Follow-Up
• Passengers can submit a lost item report through the American Airlines
