Austrian Airlines offers assistance to passengers who have lost or misplaced personal belongings during their journey. Items may be left on board the aircraft, within airport terminals, or at airline service counters. Passengers can report lost items through the airline’s customer service channels or by contacting the airport’s lost property office.

Items Left on Board the Aircraft

Items left on board Austrian Airlines aircraft are handled through airport baggage tracing offices and lost-and-found processes. The airline directs passengers to report concerns online or at the Austrian baggage tracing office at the airport.

Items Lost at the Airport

Property lost in terminal facilities, security checkpoints, lounges, or gate areas is not processed as onboard lost property. Those items are handled by the airport’s lost property office or the operator responsible for the area where the item went missing.

Baggage-Related Lost Property

Austrian Airlines treats delayed, missing, or damaged baggage through its baggage tracing system. Passengers receive written confirmation with a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) reference number when the case is reported. The airline’s baggage FAQ also states that multiple missing bags can be reported under one delayed baggage report, subject to the published reporting structure.

Reporting a Lost Item

Passengers should report baggage issues immediately online or at the Austrian baggage tracing office. The report should include baggage tag numbers, baggage descriptions, and flight details. For personal property left in the cabin, the passenger should use the airport or airline lost-and-found reporting route in place at the arrival station.

Recovery and Collection

Recovered baggage or personal property is returned according to the station’s handling procedures after verification of ownership. Reference numbers, identification, travel documents, and baggage claim evidence may be required before release.

Passenger Advice

Passengers should keep the Property Irregularity Report (PIR) number, baggage receipts, boarding pass, and any written communication connected with the case. Prompt reporting supports tracing activity and formal claim handling for delayed or damaged baggage.
