British Airways provides assistance for passengers who have lost or misplaced personal belongings during travel. Items may be left on board aircraft, in airport terminals, or at airline service counters. Passengers can report lost items through the airline’s customer service channels or through the airport’s lost property office.

Items Left on Board the Aircraft

Passengers who believe an item was left on board an aircraft should report the loss as soon as possible. Reports can be submitted through the airline’s official website or by contacting the airline’s customer service team. Information required for the report includes the flight number, travel date, seat number, and a description of the item.

Items Lost at the Airport

Items lost inside airport terminals may be handled by the airport’s lost property office. Passengers can contact the airport authority directly if the item was misplaced in areas such as security checkpoints, boarding gates, lounges, or baggage claim areas.

Baggage-Related Lost Property

Passengers who cannot locate their checked baggage upon arrival must report the issue immediately at the airline’s baggage service counter located in the arrivals area. A Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is created to begin the tracing process for the missing baggage.

Reporting a Lost Item

Passengers reporting a lost item should provide the following information:

• Passenger name and contact information

• Flight number and travel date

• Departure and arrival airports

• Detailed description of the lost item

• Seat number or cabin location if the item was left on board

• Providing accurate information assists staff in locating and returning the item.

Recovery and Collection

If a lost item is located, passengers may be contacted by the airline or airport staff regarding collection or delivery arrangements. Identification may be required when claiming recovered items.

Passenger Advice

Passengers are encouraged to check the seat area, overhead compartments, and surrounding areas before leaving the aircraft. Personal belongings should remain with the passenger throughout the journey to reduce the risk of loss.
