Reporting Lost Items

Passengers must report lost items either to Icelandair or the airport operator, depending on the location of the loss. Items lost on board the aircraft should be reported to Icelandair, while items lost within the terminal must be reported to the airport’s lost and found office. Reports must include flight details, travel date, and a clear description of the item.

Onboard Items

Items left on Icelandair aircraft are handled by the airline or its ground handling partners. Passengers must submit a lost item report through Icelandair’s official lost property channels. Providing the seat number and specific item details supports identification and recovery.

Checked Baggage Issues

Passengers must report delayed, lost, or damaged checked baggage at the Icelandair baggage service counter immediately upon arrival. A Property Irregularity Report (PIR) is issued with a reference number for tracking purposes. This reference number is required for baggage tracing and any subsequent claims.

Baggage tracing is managed through Icelandair’s tracking system, and passengers can monitor the status of their baggage using the PIR reference number.

Item Collection

Recovered items are returned through the responsible party handling the case. Items left on board are returned via Icelandair or its handling agents, while items found in the terminal are managed by the airport’s lost property office. Passengers must present valid identification and relevant reference details when collecting items. Unclaimed items are handled in accordance with the policies of the airline or airport authority.
