Brussels Airport (BRU) is Belgium’s main international gateway, located in Zaventem, approximately 12 km northeast of Brussels city center. As the country’s largest and busiest airport, it serves as a major European hub, connecting Belgium to destinations across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The airport plays a key role in both passenger travel and air cargo operations within Europe.

Facilities

Brussels Airport features a single main passenger terminal divided into Pier A (Schengen flights) and Pier B (non-Schengen flights), allowing efficient passenger flow. The terminal offers modern amenities including check-in counters, self-service kiosks, automated baggage drop, immigration and customs services, and airline lounges.

Travelers can enjoy a wide selection of duty-free shops, international and Belgian retail brands, cafés, bars, and full-service restaurants. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. Additional services include ATMs, currency exchange counters, business facilities, and assistance for passengers with reduced mobility.

Airlines

Airlines operating at BRU include Brussels Airlines, Lufthansa, British Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and TUI fly Belgium, offering both full-service and leisure routes. The airport provides strong European connectivity as well as long-haul services to North America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Transportation

Brussels Airport is well connected to the city and surrounding regions. The airport railway station, located beneath the terminal, provides direct train services to Brussels Central, Brussels Midi/Zuid, Antwerp, Ghent, and other Belgian cities.

Public buses operated by De Lijn and STIB/MIVB link the airport to Brussels’ EU quarter and city districts. Taxis and ride-hailing services are available outside the arrivals hall. Car rental companies operate on-site, and the airport offers short-term and long-term parking facilities.

Brussels Airport continues to invest in sustainability and infrastructure improvements, enhancing passenger experience while supporting Belgium’s position as a key European transport hub.
