Guadalajara International Airport

Guadalajara International Airport (GDL), officially known as Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla Guadalajara International Airport, serves the metropolitan area of Guadalajara. The airport is located approximately 17 km south of the city center. It is one of the busiest airports in Mexico and a major hub for domestic and international air traffic, particularly for routes between Mexico and the United States.

Facilities

The airport operates two passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles both domestic and international flights, while Terminal 2 is primarily used by Volaris. Facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs areas, baggage claim, airline lounges, retail shops, and duty-free outlets.

Dining options include fast food, cafés, and full-service restaurants offering Mexican and international cuisine. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminals. Additional services include ATMs, currency exchange counters, car rental providers, and passenger assistance services.

Airlines

Airlines operating at GDL include Volaris, Aeroméxico, Viva, American Airlines, United Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. These carriers operate domestic routes to cities such as Mexico City, Monterrey, and Tijuana, as well as international services to Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and other destinations across the United States.

Transportation

Travelers can access Guadalajara city center and surrounding areas via authorized airport taxis, ride-hailing services, private transfers, and public buses. Car rental services are available on-site. Travel time to central Guadalajara is approximately 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic conditions and destination.

Guadalajara International Airport continues to expand its infrastructure, including the development of additional terminal capacity, to support increasing passenger demand. It remains a key aviation hub in western Mexico and a major gateway for cross-border travel between Mexico and the United States.
