Honiara International Airport (HIR) is the primary international gateway to the Solomon Islands and is located on Guadalcanal Island, approximately 8 km east of central Honiara. Formerly known as Henderson Field, the airport serves as the country's principal aviation hub, handling both domestic and international passenger services. HIR connects the Solomon Islands with destinations across the South Pacific, including Australia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu.

Transportation

Travelers can access Honiara city center by taxi, private transfer, hotel shuttle, and rental vehicle services. Taxi services are available outside the terminal building. The journey between the airport and central Honiara takes 15 to 20 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Several hotels and tour operators provide pre-arranged airport transfers for arriving passengers.
