Milano Malpensa Airport

Milano Malpensa Airport (MXP) is the main international airport serving Milan and northern Italy, located approximately 49 km northwest of Milan city center in the Lombardy region. As the largest airport in northern Italy and one of the country’s busiest international gateways, it connects Milan to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

The airport operates two passenger terminals: Terminal 1, which handles most full-service and intercontinental flights, and Terminal 2, primarily used by low-cost carriers. Facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, airline lounges, extensive retail outlets, and duty-free shops.

Dining options range from cafés and fast-food outlets to Italian restaurants and wine bars. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout both terminals, along with currency exchange services, ATMs, pharmacies, VIP lounges, and a Sheraton hotel directly connected to Terminal 1.

MXP serves as a major base for easyJet and is operated by numerous international carriers including ITA Airways, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. Destinations cover key European cities as well as long-haul routes to New York, Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Tokyo, and other global hubs.

Transportation

Travelers can reach Milan city center via the Malpensa Express train, which connects the airport to Milano Centrale and Milano Cadorna stations. Regional and long-distance buses link the airport with Milan and nearby cities. Taxis, ride-hailing services, and car rentals are also widely available.
