Australia Transit Visa

AirlinesOffice.com  »  Transit Visa  »  Australia

Eligible travelers must meet specific criteria to transit through Australia without applying for a visa. They must:

- Arrive in Australia by aircraft
- Possess a confirmed onward booking to depart Australia to a third country within 8 hours of arrival, either on the same or another aircraft
- Have the necessary documentation to enter their country of destination
- Remain within the airport transit lounge except to continue their journey

If passengers need to pass through Immigration clearance and check-in to their onward flight, including managing their luggage, they will require a visa to enter Australia. They must apply for and obtain an appropriate visa before traveling to Australia.

If your stay in Australia exceeds 72 hours, you cannot obtain a Transit Visa and will need to apply for another type of visa.

Overnight stays are not permitted at Cairns Airport and Sydney Airport. Passengers transiting overnight will need an appropriate visa for Australia to leave the airport to access overnight accommodation.

Transit facilities at Adelaide Airport are only available for passengers arriving and departing on the same aircraft. However the transit lounge will be made available for other transit passengers if the airline provides advance notice.

There are limited transit facilities available at the Gold Coast Airport.
