Transit Visa » Bulgaria
Travelers transiting through Bulgaria and not intending to depart the
international transit zone likely won't need a visa.
However, citizens of certain countries, including Afghanistan, Angola,
Bangladesh, Congo (former Zaire), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Liberia,
Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and Sudan, are required to obtain an
airport transit visa.
This visa, available for holders of regular foreign travel documents or their
equivalents, may be single, double, or, in exceptional cases, multiple entry,
valid for three months from the date of issue.
It permits the holder to pass through or remain in the international transit
zone of the airport during a transit stop or flight transfer for up to 24 hours.
Those staying in a transit room designated for international flights are not
considered admitted to Bulgaria and cannot leave the transit area until their
departure, with their travel documents retained by border control authorities.
When applying for an airport transit visa, applicants must provide their regular
foreign travel document, photocopies of relevant pages, a recent passport-sized
photograph, and proof of flight booking, including a copy of the ticket.
Additionally, the original ticket must be presented before the visa is issued.
