Travelers transiting through Ecuador without the intention of leaving the international transit area do not require a visa.

For most countries, citizens do not need a visa to enter Ecuador for stays of up to 90 days, except for nationals of France. This visa-free entry, known as the 12-X tourist visa, is automatically granted.

If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, work, or immigrate to Ecuador, you will need to obtain one of the other types of visas.
