Transit Visa » Hungary
An airport transit visa allows passage through the international transit
areas of one or more airports in the Schengen States. Nationals of Bangladesh
and Sri Lanka require an airport transit visa to transit between terminals at
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport in Hungary.
It's important to note that nationals of Nepal and Sri Lanka must submit their
visa and airport transit visa applications to the German Embassy in Kathmandu
and Colombo, respectively, as they issue visas on behalf of Hungary. The
application procedure and conditions for issuing such visas are the same as
those for visiting Germany.
If you transit through multiple airports in Schengen States, you must apply to
the Schengen State where the first transit airport is located. However, you do
not need an airport transit visa if you:
(1) Have a short-stay visa, national long-stay visa, or residence permit issued
by any Schengen State.
(2) Hold a valid residence permit issued by a European Union Member State,
Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino, or the United States of America,
guaranteeing your unconditional readmission.
(3) Hold a valid visa issued by a European Union Member State, Canada, Japan, or
the United States of America, guaranteeing your unconditional readmission when
traveling to the issuing country or any other third country, or when returning
from the issuing country after using the visa.
(4) Are a family member of a citizen of the European Union.
(5) Hold a diplomatic passport.
(6) Are a flight crew member and a national of a contracting Party to the
Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The application procedure for an airport transit visa is the same as that for a
short-stay visa, although supporting documents may differ.
