Citizens of certain countries or territories must hold an Irish Transit Visa when they arrive at an entry point in Ireland to transit through an airport or seaport on their way to another destination.

A Transit Visa for Ireland does not grant entry into the country for any reason other than transit. Its sole purpose is to facilitate passage through Ireland en route to another destination. Applicants must already possess the required visa for their final destination before applying for an Irish Transit Visa. The application for a Transit Visa can be made up to 3 months prior to the intended travel date to Ireland.
