No visa is required to transit through Moldova if travelers do not intend to
leave the international transit area.
However, if travelers need to enter the Schengen Area, they must apply in
advance for an entry and stay visa, unless exempted from short-stay visa
requirements.
Foreign nationals generally do not enter the Schengen Area and are not subject
to entry visa requirements. However, certain nationalities may require a visa to
transit through an airport in Moldova (Airport Transit Visa or ATV).
The e-Visa service, launched on May 5, 2014, by the Government of Moldova in
partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, along
with the support of the Centre for Electronic Governance, allows applicants to
apply for an entry visa to Moldova online.
Currently, citizens of 126 countries are obliged to hold a visa for entry, exit,
or transit through the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
