The Netherlands Transit Visa

AirlinesOffice.com  »  Transit Visa  »  The Netherlands

A visa is generally not required to transit through the Netherlands if travelers do not intend to leave the international transit area.

However, certain nationalities are subject to visa requirements for transit through a Dutch airport (Airport Transit Visa or ATV). With an airport transit visa, travelers may only change to another airplane to a destination outside the Schengen area and are not allowed to leave the airport or access the Schengen area.

Travelers from the following countries need an Airport Transit Visa to change aircraft at a Dutch airport:

• Afghanistan
• Bangladesh
• Congo (Democratic Rep.)
• Eritrea
• Ethiopia
• Ghana
• Guinea
• Guinea Bissau
• Nepal
• Iran
• Iraq

• Nigeria
• Pakistan
• Somalia
• Sri Lanka
• Sierra Leone
• Sudan
• Syria
• South Sudan
