Transit Visa » Slovakia
As of December 20, 2007, Slovakia has commenced issuing Schengen Visas,
granting holders access to the entire Schengen Area. The Schengen Area comprises
European Union member states that have eliminated passport controls at internal
borders and fortified controls at external boundaries.
Under normal circumstances, travelers can typically stay in the international
transit zone at airports during layovers or transfers between two international
flights without requiring a visa. However, certain nationalities may still be
subject to visa requirements, even if they remain within the international
transit zone. Airport transit visas permit passage only through the
international transit area of airports.
If individuals do not meet the criteria for a Schengen visa, they may be able to
apply for a special visa allowing entry solely into the destination country,
rather than all Schengen countries. These special visas may be sought for
specific purposes such as humanitarian trips.
Transit visas are typically issued for a duration of up to five days.
