In general, travelers transiting through South Korea for less than 24 hours at Incheon International Airport, or departing on the same calendar day at other airports, do not need a visa as long as they remain within the transit area.

However, citizens of Sudan and Syria must hold a Korean visa for transit.

Transit passengers at Incheon International Airport have the option to join an organized transit tour group within Seoul. While the tour service is free, there is an entry-procedure fee of KRW10,000 or USD10. Travelers can register for the tour in advance or join upon arrival, with tour durations ranging from one hour to a maximum of five hours.

The following nationals, as well as stateless persons and refugees, are not eligible for this service:

• Afghanistan
• Cuba
• Ghana
• Iran
• Iraq
• Kosovo

• Macedonia
• Nigeria
• Palestine
• Sudan
• Syria

Non-visa-exempt nationals who are in transit through South Korea are visa-exempt for 30 days, provided holding a physical visa or a residence permit issued by Australia, Canada, New Zealand and United States and are arriving at South Korea from one of these countries and continuing to a third country, or arriving from a third country and continuing to one of these countries.
