Transiting through Tonga without the intention to leave the international transit area does not require a visa.

Moreover, Tonga entered into a mutual visa-waiver agreement with the European Union on 20 November 2015, which became fully ratified on 8 June 2016. This agreement permits citizens of states that are contracting parties to the Schengen Agreement to stay in Tonga without a visa for a maximum period of 90 days within any 180-day period.
