Munich International Airport (MUC), officially named Franz Josef Strauss Airport, is the main international gateway to Bavaria, located approximately 28 km northeast of Munich city center in Germany. It is the second busiest airport in the country after Frankfurt Airport and serves as a major European hub with extensive domestic, European, and long haul connections across North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Facilities

The airport operates two main passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with Terminal 2 primarily used by Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners. Facilities include check in counters, self service kiosks, immigration and customs services, lounges, duty free shops, and a wide range of dining options. Free Wi Fi is available throughout the airport, along with ATMs, currency exchange counters, and medical services.

Munich International Airport is a key hub for Lufthansa and hosts numerous international carriers, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, and United Airlines. Destinations cover major European cities and long haul routes to North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Transportation

The S Bahn lines S1 and S8 connect the airport directly to Munich city center in about 35 to 45 minutes. Taxis, buses, car rental services, and direct access via the A92 motorway provide convenient ground transportation options.
